1.Describe a subfield in psychology related to your major or career path. (For
example, if you are a business major, you might explore Industrial
Organizational Psychology).
There are three major subfields of psychology that will benefit me in my
major and those are developmental, behavioral, and cognitive psychology.
The one subfield that I picked that was related to my career path is
developmental psychology because I am going to be focusing on the
development of the children that I am around during my workday. I am
going to be a daycare provider and a teacher at the same time, so I am
going to have to understand how to help the children from one stage of life
to the other.
2.Describe the role of a psychologist who works in the subfield. (For example,
what does an IO psychologist do? Describe their tasks, who they work with,
environments they work in, populations they serve, etc.)
The role of the psychologist in developmental psychology try to understand
what the things in children’s lives that are impact their development from
one stage to another. So, they work with children and people that surround
the children during their everyday lives. By working with these people and
children they get to work around the surroundings. They notice things like
environment and surroundings because those things are the most
impactful things that help with the development of a children’s social skills
and social experiences. (Burke 2022).
3.How does this subfield complement your major? In what ways might the
work of a psychologist in this subfield impact your future career?
This subfield complements my major because I am going to be making the
environment for these young children to grow and develop in. after I see
how the children react to the environment, I have set for them then I will
